The Bears’ chances of starting Justin Fields behind center in 2019 have further decreased.
This week, fans discovered that Fields does not follow the official Chicago Bears Instagram account, which sent social media into a frenzy. In addition, the quarterback recently followed Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson—three players for the Atlanta Falcons.
As a result, on DraftKings SportsBook on Tuesday, the odds that Fields will take his first snap for Atlanta in the 2024–25 season increased from +600 to +150. The odds on the Pittsburgh Steelers to land Fields are at -120, while the Bears’ odds have decreased from +200 to +350.
Caleb Williams, the quarterback for USC, is projected to be selected by the Bears with the first overall pick (-900) in the updated odds. The Bears plan to make their final selection at the NFL Combine the following week, according to a number of reports, before free agent signing day on March 13. They run the danger of losing all of their trade power if they hold out for the QB carousel to start whirling and the market for Fields to collapse.
Important to note: It’s unclear if Fields has ever followed the Bears on Instagram. Should he be, the precise moment of the unfollowing deed would remain a mystery. As of right now, just one thing is known: Fields does not follow the team on Instagram.
