Safety Tracy Walker, a six-year NFL veteran, said on Instagram that he will be released by the team that drafted him, indicating that the Detroit Lions have made the decision to let go of him. The 29-year-old Walker played in Detroit for six seasons, starting 43 of 79 games in which he was eligible to play. He also finished with 398 tackles and three interceptions.
In his career, Walker racked up 15 tackles for loss, which tied him for the second-most of any defensive back in team history. In the 2021 campaign, he recorded a career-high of 105 total tackles, making history as the only defensive back in Lions history to do so in multiple seasons, along with Bennie Blades. One of just two NFL players to record at least 300 tackles and 15 special teams tackles between 2018 and 2021 was the third-round selection from 2018.

Walker was a healthy scratch for the postseason in 2023 after dropping down the Lions’ depth chart. On a three-year, $25 million contract with a $12,821,668 cap charge for the next season, he had one year left on it.
