REPORT: Observing the NFL During Pro Bowl and Super Bowl Weeks Showed the Strength of Title Bulldogs…
There are just two games left in the professional football season, and two Mississippi State alumni will be there for the Super Bowl celebration. Once more.
The Chiefs have made it back to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in the last five seasons thanks to their impressive run through the American Conference playoffs. Chris Jones, a defensive tackle, is currently tied for the second-most Super Bowl appearances among Bulldogs, having played for all of these teams.
Center Kent Hull and cornerback Kirby Jackson were two other former Dogs who played for Buffalo and went on to win four Super Bowls. Linebacker D.D. Lewis holds the record with five visits to the Super Bowl with Dallas.
Willie Gay Jr., a linebacker, is playing for the Chiefs for the third time this season; however, his status is still unknown as he was injured and missed the conference title game. Only Jones’ numbers have changed since the previous report, then.
Thus far, Jones, Gay, and Lewis have all won two Super Bowls (2020, 2023). If the Chiefs triumph over the weekend, they will reset the bar.
Meanwhile, defensive end Montez Sweat, one of two Chicago Bears competing in the Pro Bowl this weekend, will be joined by two former Bulldogs. Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is one of the seven players that will compete.
Here is a list of every former Dog who was on a 2023 roster, both those who were injured and those who were active, along with the results from last weekend. Remember that the NFL does not apply post-season statistics to season or career totals, which remain the same for all players as they were last week.
