The Boston Celtics may try to re-sign a well-known player to help their chances of making the playoffs, as they have one roster space remaining. Rob Greene of Sports Illustrated proposed that the Celtics sign six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin.
Griffin’s rapport with the players and staff of the Celtics, which would influence a potential reunion, was described by Greene.
Blake Griffin
“Griffith addressed how he and Stevens have maintained touch and mutual respect throughout the years as they headed into the six-time All-Star’s only Celtics season last year. Griffin and a number of Celtics players have also maintained tight relationships, Greene noted in a February 1 story.
Greene went on to justify the Celtics’ decision to add him. He also mentioned that Griffin’s contributions go beyond the basketball floor.
Griffin strengthens Boston’s interior for any unanswered questions and again provides consistency in the front court with this championship-hungry Celtics team. In addition to offering another suitable option for the second unit—possibly the deepest team in the NBA—his presence offers excellent mentoring.
“The Celtics could benefit most from a reunion with Griffin because there is only one free roster space and few possibilities to fill it.”
During his time with the Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit Pistons, Griffin was a member of six NBA All-Star teams. Griffin isn’t the same talent anymore, but in 2022–2023 he gave the Celtics solid frontcourt depth.
“Dude, Boston is amazing.” Playing and living in Boston was pretty much the best thing I’ve ever done. The fans are amazing, dude. having a team that is so intent on winning championships. One of the best parts (is) the players on that team are just like such a great group of guys.”
He was raving about the Celtics when he mentioned how much he respected Jayson Tatum.
“Someone akin to Jayson Tatum—a true superstar who is incredibly humble. speaks with each member of the team. speaks with every employee. He would go talk to anyone he was sitting with. He’s not only hanging out with people like Jaylen Brown or Marcus Smart.
During his time with the Celtics, Griffin experienced the longest postseason run of his NBA career.
