Kings goaltender will miss the rest of the season after having knee surgery…
Los Angeles (AP) — Following knee surgery earlier this week, Los Angeles Kings goaltender Pheonix Copley will miss the remainder of the year. The news was released by the Kings on Saturday.
At USC’s Keck Hospital, Dr. Frank Petrigliano carried out the ACL restoration surgery.
After sustaining a knee injury during practice on December 15, Copley was placed on long-term injured reserve right after.
Copley has made eight starts and is 4-1-2 with a 3.16 goals-against average. Cam Talbot, who was chosen for this week’s All-Star Game, has a record of 14-8-3. With a 2.10 goals against average and 92.5% save percentage, he leads the league among goalies who have appeared in at least 20 games.
For the remainder of the season, David Rittich will be the starting backup. Since Copley’s injury, he is 2-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA and 92.6% save percentage in three starts.
