Cincinnati Bengals’ elite quarterback is officially back to 100% months ahead of the 2024 preseason.
Although many fans are discussing the possible trade of wide receiver Tee Higgins, the Cincinnati Bengals’ offseason is centered on the health of superstar quarterback Joe Burrow. Last season, the team’s entire season was ruined when Burrow tore a ligament in his wrist in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens. After that, this Southwest Ohio club’s playoff dreams were destroyed for the season.
Cincinnati Bengals Superstar Will Return to the Field in March 2024
Just months after his injury, Burrow has demonstrated why he is considered as the toughest worker in the National Football League. While there was some concern that Burrow would lose time during the 2024 preseason or even the regular season, he was spotted throwing footballs without restriction on Wednesday morning.
When healthy, Burrow has proven to be one of the top players in the league, with a killer instinct that allows him to win games that his team should not have won. As of now, Burrow’s greatest accomplishment in the NFL was leading Cincinnati to its first Super Bowl appearance since 1989, which came in early 2022 when he led the team through Kansas City.
Burrow will face a new hurdle next season, as he must find out how to build an outstanding offense in the absence of slot wide receiver Tyler Boyd and, most likely, star target man Higgins. Boyd is a free agent this season and will almost certainly sign with another team. Higgins is under contract to play in Cincinnati next season after the team used the franchise tag but the 6’4″ Clemson product wanted a trade immediately after. Burrow’s collegiate colleague and likely the finest of the bunch, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, will remain on the roster, but the team will be without two of its three receivers next season.
Even without two of his favorite targets from previous seasons, Burrow will have additional target Mike Gesicki and two intriguing rookie receivers in 2023: slot receiver Charlie Jones and wide out Andrei Iosivas. Despite Burrow missing the majority of the season, Iosivas demonstrated promise in 2023, catching four touchdown passes for the team.
