SO SAD: THE STEELERS FINALLY GIVEN UP ON THEIR SUPERSTAR QUARTERBACK.
Pittsburgh — According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not interested in trading for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. The Steelers have been mentioned as one of the favorites to sign Fields throughout the offseason, including this week when ESPN’s Adam Schefter stated they are “in the conversation.” However, Russini stated that they are not interested in acquiring the previous first-round pick. “Additionally, Pittsburgh is not among the teams actively working to trade for Fields, league sources told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini,” they stated in an email. According to the report, the Steelers are not interested in signing Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, or Baker Mayfield.
Fields’ market value is allegedly dropping, making him a more desirable name for teams like the Steelers who aren’t wanting to spend a lot of money on another quarterback. But if they’re gone, it appears they’ll stay with Kenny Pickett and, hopefully, Mason Rudolph this year. According to general manager Omar Khan, the team is in talks with Rudolph, and both sides are interested in a return. That being said, it is assumed that he will at least explore his free agency options before signing with Pittsburgh.
