BREAKING NEWS:A prominent investor explains why the Pittsburgh Steelers must sign a $78 million cornerback in…
The Pittsburgh Steelers enjoyed a successful season, but they struggled in the playoffs. The squad can improve its chances when the NFL returns later this year by acquiring Washington Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller.
Despite ranking sixth in offense among all 32 NFL teams, the Steelers’ 28th-ranked defense could need some help. As it stands, their cornerback lineup, which includes Levi Wallace and Joey Porter Jr., is insufficient to handle any opponent team’s wide receivers.
Pittsburgh ended with a 10-7 record, third in the AFC North division, but their postseason showing against the Buffalo Bills was disappointing. Their 31-17 loss in the wild card stage demonstrates the necessity for the Steelers to enhance their roster for the following season.
If acquired, Fuller will provide some talent to the Steelers’ lineup. Aaron Schatz delved deeper in his story for ESPN:
“The Steelers have a need at cornerback, especially if Patrick Peterson is moved to safety full-time.” Last season, Fuller was the Commanders’ only cornerback with outstanding coverage numbers.
His coverage DVOA was comparable to that of L’Jarius Sneed and Marshon Lattimore, although he allowed a lot of touchdowns. In Pittsburgh, he might play opposite Joey Porter Jr., taking the easier assignment while Porter focuses on the opponent’s top receiver. Fuller should be good enough to let Pittsburgh’s safeties lean toward Porter’s guy,” Schatz wrote.
