The Steelers cut a few players on Monday, including punter Pressley Harvin III. That’s why former All-Pro punter Pat McAfee believes Pittsburgh should look into signing Matt Araiza this offseason.
“Matt Araiza might potentially oversee the AFC North stadiums. “You must have a very strong leg,” McAfee stated on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “The ‘Punt God’ has clearly gone through a lot. He has been exonerated of charges, and he has not returned to the NFL. Perhaps the Pittsburgh Steelers are the right place to sign him.”The Buffalo Bills drafted Araiza in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft. However, a few months after being drafted, he was accused of raping a then-17-year-old female at an off-campus party in 2021 and was dismissed from the squad shortly thereafter.
The 23-year-old rejected the allegations, and the woman dropped the charges in December 2023. Araiza also dismissed his defamation countersuit against her. He has yet to receive any interest from NFL teams.
