The Pittsburgh Steelers inquire about the Chicago Bears’ quarterback.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing something they have not done in a long time: moving quickly. Just one day into the 2024 season, the team has released three previous starters and begun clearing cap space for free agents.
The moves were predictable, but the speed with which they occurred was surprising. Typically, the Steelers are a squad that waits, evaluates, and takes judgements depending on current events. But with three moves right away, it appears that they have a different vision on the 2024 offseason. The dynamics of the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room were scrutinised throughout the 2023 season. In an interview during Super Bowl 58 media week, star defence T.J. Watt was questioned about Ben Roethlisberger’s critique of Steelers tradition from last December.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the guys in the locker room, and it’s hard for people on the outside to truly get a feel for what’s going on on the inside,” Watt said in a February 8 interview with Yahoo Sports’ Jason Fitz.
Pittsburgh — This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a quarterback, and Justin Fields may be on their short list. According to NFL expert Benjamin Allbright, Pittsburgh is set to contact the Chicago Bears on their former first-round pick.
According to Allbright, the Steelers are one of three teams he expects to call Chicago for Fields. ESPN’s Adam Schefter also stated that head coach Mike Tomlin is a huge supporter of Fields and that Pittsburgh will explore for other candidates to bring in.
