Lakers Injury Report: Why LA Replaced Cam Reddish in the second quarter against the Wizards
The Los Angeles Lakers won a hard-fought game against the Washington Wizards on Thursday evening, keeping their winning run intact. However, it was not for the faint of heart, as they went into overtime against one of the NBA’s poorest teams.
To their credit, the game was played on the second night of a back-to-back, so the teams’ legs weren’t completely under them. But, midway through the game, the Lakers received another injury scare, this time to forward Cam Reddish.
Darvin Ham, the Lakers’ head coach, revealed why Reddish was removed from the game in the second quarter. He explained that he was suffering some soreness in his ankle, so they took precautions by taking him out of the game.
Reddish has only recently returned to the lineup after a lengthy absence due to injury, so the Lakers are taking precautions with him. They couldn’t afford for him to miss too much time, so they decided to play it safe.
He has emerged as a key member of the team, particularly on defense. With Reddish in the lineup, the Lakers already lack wing depth, so losing him would exacerbate the problem.
The hope is that this injury won’t keep him out for long, if at all. The team making sure he was healthy is a good indication, and they need Reddish to have an influence on the game as the stretch run starts.
