When Pat Lakers Stand Alone During The Deadline, Anthony Davis Reacted.
Many were taken back when the Los Angeles Lakers chose to remain with their current squad and skip the NBA trade deadline.
When the deadline of Thursday rolled around and the Lakers looked exactly the same, any optimism that supporters might have had that the team would land Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown, or another player vanished.
When questioned on Thursday about the lack of progress, Anthony Davis was candid about the situation.
“This is our group. This is the team we will be using. According to Lakers Nation, Davis stated, “Hopefully, we can get back into a groove once we get guys healthy.”
Like he did at the trade deadline the previous year, fans were hoping that general manager Rob Pelinka would implement some significant changes.
The team improved in the second half of the season and advanced to the Western Conference Finals thanks to the additions made the season before.
But as of right now, the team’s 27-26 record puts them ninth in the West—a far cry from what some had predicted for 2023–24.
Although Davis acknowledged that his team has occasionally found a groove even without everyone being healthy, he still expressed his hope that they can “get back into a groove” when everyone is well.
They had won three straight games, including ones against the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks, just earlier this week.
In addition, players like D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves have put on some outstanding performances.
This implies that even with a modified roster, the team is still capable of greatness.
However, the Lakers have really struggled with health issues throughout the season, and the league is much tougher than it was a year ago.
Can Davis and his team find a way to stay healthy and take advantage of the greatness that exists?
