Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has been suspended for one game without pay due to his unsportsmanlike behaviour during the game against the Boston Celtics. The National Basketball Association’s Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars, made the announcement on Saturday.
The play that culminated to a brawl between the two teams during their Eastern Conference game on Thursday night involved the 30-year-old head-butting Celtics guard Blake Gryphon after the latter had hard fouled him.
With approximately 1:25 left in the fourth quarter, Antetokounmpo was called for a Flagrant-2-Foul and was then taken out of the game.
The Bucks fell to the Celtics 140-99 at Fiserv Forum, their second-biggest loss of the season.
The basketball player, Greek-Nigerian, will serve his suspension when the Eastern Conference leaders play the Philadelphia 76ers at Milwauakee on Sunday, April 2.
