Nottingham Forest could be impacted by reported interest in loanee Nuno Tavares with French side Marseille ‘considering’ a move for the full-back.
The defender is currently on loan at the City Ground, having signed until the end of the season back in the summer. He has though struggled for game time under both Steve Cooper and Nuno Espirito Santo.
So far this season, Tavares has made a total of five appearances in all competitions. He has not played in the Premier League since September when he played 39 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Man City.
The lack of game time has led to speculation over his future. L’Equipe now report that Marseille are ‘considering’ making a move for Tavares before the end of the window. The left-back spent the 2022/23 season on loan with the French club where he played 39 games, scoring six goals.
The reported interest will leave Arsenal with a decision to make over the full-back. Should they want to get the player more game time then they may opt to recall him from his loan spell at the City Ground.
He is likely to play for Marseille following the winter departure of former Forest loanee Renan Lodi. The Brazilian spent last season on loan with Forest but completed a summer move to Marseille, after just six months with the club he has now moved onto Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
Tavares has previously been linked with an early exit from Forest, and is said to be open to cutting his loan spell short. The loan deal does include options to make the deal permanent in the summer, but that is unlikely to happen unless his game time dramatically increases under Nuno.
