Players usually get tickets for special people in their lives when they reach the CFL’s championship game, and this one in Hamilton is no exception.
“It’s extremely exciting to have him,” the Jeffcoat was saying on Wednesday. “But it’s also extremely exciting to be here. This is what we play the game for. We want to be in championships. And obviously win.”
Jeffcoat, Sr., is driving up from Buffalo, just as he did when the Bombers played the 2021 Grey Cup in Southern Ontario.
Other players have bigger contingents coming, like the 17 or 18 from Steubenville, Ohio, coming to support Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros.
“The usual suspects are coming from my hometown,” Collaros said.
The quarterback secured tickets for a similar-sized group for his wife, who’s from Aurora, Ont.
The smallest fan in attendance could well be Raia Demski, born to Bombers receiver Nic and his fiancée in early July.
“We’re bringing the baby,” Demski said. “We’re still trying to figure out where we’re going to sit her during the game. It might a little nippy, and loud. It is cool. I hope we can get her in the stadium. Hopefully I can have her down on the field. But I’m not trying to think about that too much.”
Demski’s parents and sisters are coming from Winnipeg, too, along with some friends, although not as many as drove to Regina for last year’s Grey Cup.
