Giants have signed Carlos Polk for special teams coordinator…
According to a report from ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan, the New York Giants are interviewing Carlos Polk, the assistant special teams coach for the Chicago Bears, to be their special teams coordinator.
In the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers (then San Diego) selected Polk, a former linebacker, out of Nebraska. He played in the NFL for eight years, seven of those with the Chargers and the last with the Dallas Cowboys. After his playing career finished, Polk went straight into coaching, and in 2009 he was hired by Grassmont College as an assistant special teams coach.
He has been an assistant coach for the Chargers (2010–2012), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014–18), Cowboys (2013, 2019), and Jacksonville Jaguars throughout the previous fifteen years.
The forthcoming off-season for the New York Giants is full of tough choices that will determine the team’s destiny. After a series of unfavorable stories cast Brian Daboll in a terrible light, the vultures are circling his head, and the Giants’ only hope is to keep improving their team and keep it from collapsing.
