A Buffalo Bills fan died after suffering a gunshot wound outside Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday. The fan and friends were leaving the stadium following the Bills’ win over the Miami Dolphins when they encountered a driver who had struck a pedestrian after erratic driving, Miami Gardens Police said. An altercation ensued and the driver fired shots, striking 30-year-old Dylan Brody Isaacs, who died at the scene.
Isaacs was a resident of Canada, and the Bills fan was in Florida visiting friends. The group watched the Bills defeat the Dolphins to win the AFC East, and they were returning to their car on foot when the deadly incident occurred. The driver who fired the fatal shot fled the scene on Sunday, but the car was eventually located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Police have interviewed a suspect of interest, although charges had not been filed as of Wednesday, according to Local10. The investigation is ongoing.
Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill responded to the incident on X, writing, “football suppose to bring us together not divide us remember that part.” It is unclear what the context of the argument between the driver and the pedestrians was about.
A GoFundMe page to support transport and burial costs was started by Isaacs’ family in the aftermath of the incident. As of Wednesday, the page had received over 97,000 Canadian dollars in donations. The initial goal of the fundraiser was 50,000.
“On behalf of Dylan’s family, we would like a moment to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to those who have donated, shared and sent prayers to us during this challenging and painful time,” a person in charge of the GoFundMe page wrote in an update. “To the Bills Mafia, the Buffalo Bills as well as the Miami Dolphins and fans and to everyone across Turtle Island, thank you for coming together and showing up with so much love and support for us and our community. It has been truly inspiring to see the things we can do as human beings with empathy and compassion for one another.
“All of the prayers, love and generosity has been incredibly helpful to Dylan’s mother and their entire family, as well as the Haudenosaunee community of Six Nations. During this difficult time, please keep the family in your prayers. We will keep you updated on the arrangements for Dylan and thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!”
