In the week since being recalled to the England team, Ollie Watkins has signed a new long-term deal with Aston Villa.
The attacker has been in talks with Villa since the spring, but has finally agreed to terms and committed his future to the club.
Watkins joins the likes of Tyrone Mings, Moussa Diaby, and Emiliano Martinez in the top tier of Villa’s salary structure.
John McGinn insists the arrivals of Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby will boost Aston Villa’s chances of winning the Europa Conference League next season.
Diaby was confirmed as Villa’s latest signing on Saturday, as he follows Tielemans and Torres in joining Unai Emery’s squad. The Villa head coach has added top quality to his ranks so far this summer ahead of what could be a hectic 2023/24 campaign after his side qualified for Europe last term.
All three of Villa’s summer signings have experience of playing in Europe, including in the Champions League. Villa captain McGinn is excited to play alongside Diaby after his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen was announced hours before the Scot faced the media ahead of the Premier League Summer Series match with Newcastle in Philadelphia.
