After the Crimson Tide were ousted in the College Football Playoff by Michigan, Goodwine joined the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week. He played three seasons on the defensive line at Alabama, mostly as a backup.
On Sunday, Goodwine became the second former Crimson Tide player to reveal his transfer destination, after former quarterback Eli Holstein’s pledge to Pittsburgh.

Alabama 2024 transfer site, NFL draft tracker: What comes next for the Tide after the Rose Bowl?
Goodwine, a redshirt sophomore from Maryland, was ranked No. 123 in the 2021 class but appeared in only five games for Alabama in his three seasons. He spent the weekend in South Carolina.
Here is the complete list of Alabama players who have used the transfer site since it launched on December 4. Those who have announced new schools have been highlighted.
After falling 27-20 in overtime to Michigan, the Tide enters an uncharted offseason. For the first time in Nick Saban’s tenure, Alabama has gone three seasons without winning a national championship.
What comes next? The first two weeks of January will form a 2024 squad that will compete in the new 16-team SEC and attempt to make the inaugural 12-team playoff, from the transfer portal to NFL draft decisions and likely coaching changes.
Begin with the transfer portal. The transfer portal for undergraduate players in college football shuts on Monday, although teams competing in bowl games have a five-day window after their last game. That means undergraduate Alabama athletes have until Saturday to enter the portal.
There is no doubt that Alabama athletes will enter the portal this week, after the entry of four players in early December: quarterback Tyler Buchner, defensive lineman Isaiah Hastings and Anquin Barnes, and wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks. The Tide have more than 90 scholarship players anticipated for next season and will need to trim their roster to the NCAA’s 85-scholarship maximum.
The NFL draft will follow. The NFL’s deadline for underclassmen with at least three years of collegiate experience to join the draft is Jan. 15, and four Alabama juniors are projected to go in the first round. Dallas Turner, one of them, has already declared his departure. Other juniors to watch are offensive tackle JC Latham and cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry.
The coaching staff comes next. Outside linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Coleman Hutzler will leave to become Mississippi State’s defensive coordinator, unless Nick Saban makes a seismic decision to stand down.
Here’s what we know so far regarding Alabama’s offseason changes:
