The Eagles have now lost four of their last five games. They were blown out by the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers in December. After the Cardinals game, there was speculation that Sirianni had fallen out of favor with the Eagles locker room.
“No, I don’t think about those things,” Sirianni remarked on 94WIP’s Morning Show on Tuesday. “I try to stay where we are right now.”
Sirianni was asked if the Eagles’ late-season collapse had “shocked” him. Sirianni stated that he was more concerned with finding solutions to break their losing streak:
“Shocked? No. “I don’t believe that,” Sirianni stated. “I consider where we are and how we will get out of this rut.” I’m attempting to remain precisely where I am. How can we get this squad and coaches, including myself, to play and coach to the best of our abilities, and how do we beat the New York Giants…”I’m thinking right now, where we are.”
After Week 17, reports concerning Sirianni’s job security were shocking. This season, the Eagles will make the playoffs. This season, they’ve defeated formidable opponents like as the Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills.
Sirianni has a track record of success in Philly. They’ve made the playoffs in each of his three seasons as head coach. Sirianni leads the Eagles to a 34-15 record.
Last year, Sirianni was a couple plays away from winning the Super Bowl. However, Doug Pederson, who won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, was dismissed a season after the team made the playoffs.
Sirianni’s successes would be sufficient for 99 percent of the league, but a terrible month in Philadelphia may lead to his dismissal.
