Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins passed on early Saturday morning after he was struck by a dump truck while he was strolling on a South Florida expressway. Haskins had just turned 24.
Florida Thruway Watch representative Lt. Indiana Miranda said Haskins was articulated dead at the scene.
“He was endeavoring to cross the westward paths of Highway 595 when there was cars moving the opposite direction,” Miranda said in a messaged articulation.
She didn’t say why Haskins was on the expressway close to Stronghold Lauderdale at that point. The mishap made the roadway be closed down for a few hours, and Miranda said it’s “an open traffic crime examination.”
Haskins and other Steelers quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers were participating in training in South Florida.
“I’m crushed and speechless with the lamentable passing of Dwayne Haskins,” Steelers mentor Mike Tomlin said in a proclamation. ” He immediately turned out to be important for our Steelers family upon his appearance in Pittsburgh and was perhaps of our hardest laborer, both on the field and locally. Dwayne was an extraordinary colleague, yet significantly more so a huge companion to so many. I’m really devastated.

After a champion 2018 season at Ohio State, Haskins was chosen fifteenth generally by the Washington Commandants in the 2019 draft. Haskins enjoyed two violent seasons with Washington prior to marking in Pittsburgh before last season.
“We are crushed to hear the insight about the lamentable passing of Dwayne Haskins Jr.,” Commandants proprietors Daniel and Tanya Snyder said in an explanation. ” He was a young fellow with an enormous measure of potential who had irresistible character. I realize I represent the remainder of our group in saying he will be profoundly missed. Our whole group is sending our ardent sympathies and considerations and petitions to the Haskins family as of now.”
Over the course of Washington’s two seasons, Haskins appeared in 16 games and had a Total QBR of 29.4; the association normal during that time was 63.5. He tossed 12 score passes to 14 block attempts.
Haskins’ time in Washington began fairly dubiously, as the scouts and mentors campaigned against drafting him with the fifteenth pick – – however Snyder needed him. Haskins was a major name locally, having featured for three seasons at Bullis Secondary School in Potomac, Maryland.
