The France striker Christopher Nkunku is now free to play in the Premier League, according to Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.
This implies that Christopher Nkunku, who hasn’t appeared on the pitch for Chelsea since finalizing his transfer to the team in the summer, might play on Saturday against Sheffield United.
Remember that Nkunku, 26, left RB Leipzig to seal a £52 million deal with the Blues, but he suffered a left knee injury during a preseason friendly in Chicago.
During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Pochettino hinted that the Frenchman, who had surgery in August, would now begin to develop a “feel” of the English game.
The Argentine strategist went on, “Seeing a player who should be important to us in the squad for the first time is a big motivation for us, his teammates, and the fans.”
“We don’t want to put pressure on him, so let’s be calm and quiet about this excellent news.”
Due to fitness concerns, Christopher Nkunku arrived at Chelsea somewhat of a funfair, having scored sixteen goals in twenty-five Bundesliga games the previous season. However, his arrival hasn’t produced any results.
When the Argentine came at Stamford Bridge in May, Nkunku—who has made ten appearances for France’s national team—was the first player recruited by Pochettino. However, he suffered an injury in a challenge with Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund.
Prior to his injury, Nkunku had demonstrated promise when playing for Chelsea during their preseason tour of the United States, tallying three goals in five contests.
