Erling Haaland, a forward for Manchester City, has become the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 50 goals.
With his goal against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium earlier today, November 25, the 23-year-old Norwegian attacker accomplished this achievement.
Erling Haaland gave Manchester City the lead in the Premier League match after the team capitalized on a mistake made by Alisson Becker in the 27th minute.
The Brazilian goalkeeper attempted to make a short pass to Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian winger, but Nathan Ake intercepted the pass, setting up the Norwegian striker for the goal.
Haaland exited the game with a Premier League record, despite Trent Alexander-Arnold ruining the party for Manchester City by scoring the equalizer in the 80th minute. In just 48 league games, he scored 50 goals, making him the fastest player in Premier League history.
Haaland’s goal against Liverpool is his 70th goal in 72 games across all competitions for Manchester City, and it is his 18th goal in 19 games this season across all competitions.
The record for the fastest Premier League player to 50 goals was previously held by Andy Cole. In 65 games over the 1990s, he accomplished this achievement.
Other Premier League players (past and present) who scored 50 goals in less than 73 games include Mo Salah and Fernando Torres (in 72 matches apiece), Ruud van Nistelrooy (in 68 matches), and Alan Shearer (in 66 matches).
