In a thrilling nod to their enduring legacy, Led Zeppelin has unveiled a freshly remastered version of the classic track “Houses of the Holy”, advancing the celebration of the 50th anniversary of their monumental double album, Physical Graffiti (1975). This new version joins a stream of similar remasters—including “In My Time of Dying,” “The Rover,” and “Custard Pie”—now featured on the band’s official YouTube channel.
This announcement comes as part of a broader commemorative package: an enhanced 50th-anniversary edition of the Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition (originally released in 2015), now expanded with a striking replica promotional poster and offered across multiple formats—vinyl, CD, and digital—for fans and collectors alike.
In tandem with these studio remasters, Led Zeppelin is also releasing a new Live EP—featuring four epic performances: “In My Time of Dying” and “Trampled Underfoot” (from Earls Court, 1975), along with “Sick Again” and “Kashmir” (from Knebworth, 1979). These tracks, which were previously exclusive to the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD, are now made available for the first time in audio formats such as 180‑gram vinyl, CD, and digital release.
Both the revamped Deluxe Edition and the Live EP are set for release on September 12, 2025, and are already available for pre-order.
Originally recorded during the sessions for the Houses of the Holy album but withheld from release until Physical Graffiti, this track has become one of Led Zeppelin’s most iconic. By giving it a fresh sonic polish, the band is not just honoring its past but reviving a moment of creative genesis—reintroducing a fan favorite in renewed clarity and depth.
The remastered version benefits from modern audio technology while still preserving the raw grit and grandeur that defined Zeppelin’s mid‑70s sound. This is particularly fitting, as the original Physical Graffiti was a milestone: Led Zeppelin’s first release under their own Swan Song label, reigniting their independence in production and distribution; and it was certified 17× platinum in the U.S.
The 2025 reissue does more than just refresh the original album—it’s a collector’s dream:
- Updated Deluxe Edition: The 3‑LP vinyl set includes the remastered album plus the Companion Audio disc with rare rough mixes and early versions. Now augmented with a bold promotional poster replica, it’s as visually compelling as it is sonically immersive.
- Live EP: A standalone release capturing the band’s explosive live performances now in audio-only formats—a first for four beloved tracks.
- Originally dropped on February 24, 1975, Physical Graffiti represented both a turning point and a statement—a double LP blending fresh recordings with unreleased gems like “Houses of the Holy.” It reflected the band’s creative freedom and their determination to shape their legacy on their terms.
Today’s remaster is equally symbolic: a bridge between past and present, inviting longtime fans and new listeners to experience the timeless energy of Led Zeppelin anew. As Physical Graffiti enters its sixth decade, its renewed release underscores both the band’s storied history and its undimmed resonance in music today.
