The Toronto Blue Jays have made several roster moves ahead of their upcoming games, addressing key injuries and performance issues.

Outfielder Daulton Varsho has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain. The injury occurred during the third inning of the team’s 8-7 victory over the Athletics on Saturday, when Varsho attempted to leg out a triple. At 28 years old, Varsho has been a significant contributor to the Blue Jays’ offense, batting .207 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs in 24 games this season. In his absence, Myles Straw is expected to start in center field for the series finale against the Athletics.

To fill Varsho’s spot on the roster, utilityman Davis Schneider has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. Schneider, 26, has appeared in 10 games with the Blue Jays this season, recording one hit in 15 at-bats. His versatility and ability to play multiple positions provide the team with added depth during Varsho’s absence.

Relief pitcher Erik Swanson has been activated from the 60-day injured list. Swanson, 31, has been dealing with a median nerve entrapment since spring training. In his minor league rehab assignments, he has struggled, posting a 10.13 ERA with a 0-1 record in 5 1/3 innings over seven relief appearances. The Blue Jays are hopeful that Swanson can regain his form and contribute to the bullpen’s success.

Left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas has been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo. Lucas, 28, was recalled to the majors recently and made a notable appearance, allowing four hits and striking out three batters over 4 2/3 scoreless innings to earn a win. Despite this strong outing, the Blue Jays have decided to send him back to Triple-A to continue his development and depth options.

The Blue Jays are set to continue their series against the Athletics today, with Myles Straw starting in center field. Following this, they will face the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-game series starting on Tuesday, June 3. The team will look to maintain their momentum and navigate these roster changes effectively.
