What’s the next step for the Baltimore Ravens? With Lamar Jackson, who is likely to secure his third NFL MVP award, they arguably have the league’s best player. Baltimore Ravens insider raises idea of Mark Andrews trade
Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta will spend the offseason looking to strengthen the roster, though the NFL salary cap limits teams‘ ability to continually add star players. Sometimes, teams must assess whether their top earners are truly worth their contracts. For the Ravens, that could lead to difficult discussions about players like All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews.
As reported by The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens may need to evaluate if Andrews’ $16.9 million cap hit is too much for the team. With Andrews heading into the final year of his contract, Zrebiec doesn’t anticipate the Ravens releasing the three-time Pro Bowl talent, but a trade could be on the table. If they can secure quality draft picks, trading Andrews could free up valuable cap space while adding a young asset. Another possibility is extending him to lower his 2025 cap hit, or the Ravens might be comfortable allowing Andrews to finish the last year of his deal. DeCosta will explore all available options.
Despite having strong depth at tight end, with both Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar entering the final year of their contracts, the Ravens face a decision on which player to extend long-term. Should they stick with the proven Andrews, or invest in the potential of the younger Likely?
