Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Announce Special Guest for 2025 North American Tour

Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood is stepping in as the live bassist for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, filling the role left vacant by longtime bassist Martyn Casey, who is sidelined due to an unspecified illness. Greenwood previously joined the band for a series of European shows last fall and will reprise his role this spring during their North American tour, as confirmed in Radiohead’s recent W.A.S.T.E. newsletter.

In an editorial for The New Statesman, Greenwood reflected on the contrasts between his experiences with Radiohead and The Bad Seeds. “The most striking difference is the sartorial formality of the Bad Seeds,” he shared. “Each evening, we’re presented with a rack of freshly pressed suits and starched shirts. I think my mother would finally approve—seeing me in a navy suit and black brogues after years of double denim in Radiohead.”

Greenwood also praised the band’s performances, highlighting Nick Cave’s captivating presence and the shimmering stage costumes designed by Cave’s wife, Susie. “I’m in awe every night of Nick’s intensity, how he draws thousands into a shared experience and transforms vast arenas into intimate spaces.”

The tour supports The Bad Seeds’ latest album, Wild God.
