Eagle veteran Clarifies Stance on Jayden Daniels-Jalen Hurts Debate Ahead of NFC Championship

Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce recently clarified his earlier comments regarding the NFC Championship matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Eagles. He acknowledged Washington’s strong teamwork and praised head coach Dan Quinn but emphasized his belief that the Eagles’ roster was more loaded.

Kelce’s remarks sparked backlash, particularly in regard to the quarterbacks, with fans and media noting that rookie Jayden Daniels had outperformed veteran Jalen Hurts. In response to the criticism, Kelce took to his ‘X’ platform to clarify his point. He explained that his comments were not meant to include the quarterbacks, as they had already been discussed earlier, and that he was referring to other positions. Kelce also praised both QBs, highlighting Daniels’ impressive rookie season, and acknowledged Washington’s strength, including its linebackers and defensive tackles. He reiterated that his intent was not to belittle Washington, but rather to emphasize the physicality and resilience of both teams.

Jason Kelce took care to clarify that his comments weren’t solely about the two quarterbacks, emphasizing that his focus was on the other positions throughout his interview, not just the clip that circulated online. While he did give Washington some credit, it’s clear where Kelce’s loyalty lies, as he spent 13 seasons with the Eagles.

As mentioned earlier, Jayden Daniels has outperformed Jalen Hurts this season, surpassing him by over 600 passing yards and seven touchdowns. Daniels also outgained Hurts on the ground by 261 yards, although Hurts holds the advantage in rushing touchdowns, with 14 compared to Daniels’ six, largely due to Hurts’ frequent use of the “tush push” quarterback sneak at the goal line.

Both teams and their quarterbacks command respect, with each side acknowledging the other’s strengths. Now, in a highly anticipated showdown, we will finally witness these rosters and quarterbacks face off in an all-important game, where the winner will secure a chance to reach the Super Bowl. The stakes are high, and the intensity is palpable as the NFC Championship awaits.
